Apfii, my Mother!

God’s gift to us are like colours. They come in all shades and sizes.

DSC00305 - CopyThe words below are simply a write up of my feelings for the most beautiful woman in my life who, through her courage and vitality made me to be the person I am today. Her faith and hope in God, her meekness, patience and strength has made me stronger in some of life’s most painful moments. Of which, is nothing compared to the grief and ache she underwent through. What defines and supplements her attractiveness are inexpressible in few words. Sitting beside her every time and listening to her words of wisdom , makes me feel better, heartens my spirit and makes it possible for me to look at life with a more optimistic attitude. Therefore, I’m indebted to God for the beautiful being that have been my inspiration till this day. She’s none other than my mother, one of the finest ‘gift’ God has blessed me and family with.

 Apfii, my Mother!

Graceful is the word to describe you

Patience you carry through

Pain and suffering, you’ve seen and dealt with

Now, suffering and pain means throbbing Joy for you

Words of comfort which comes forth your mouth is a strength for us

Never once did you complain nor say, ‘why is this happening?’ when life’s journey was rough and stormy

God’s plans and ways are difficult to understand yet, ‘His’ ways are best, accept ‘His’ will is what comes out of your lips

Whispers of discouragements and discomforts you hear from your surroundings but, you ignore

I will endure anguish and twinge just as Christ endured while on earth, you would say

Every trials and tribulations of life have made me stronger, you would console

Life’s impediments does not deter your strive of faith in God

Praise or downfall, it doesn’t change the humbleness you hold

Never once did I or your brood say how much we are grateful to God for your gift of life

Without a doubt, Dad has the preeminent life partner in the whole earth

Us, your children could boast of you, the stronghold, you mother

O Mother, the great and moral enthusiast of the family

May God’s continuous lead and guidance be upon you!

May your life be filled with all joy and happiness that life has to offer!

May all your plans ahead be fulfilled

May you continue to be an example to many who are yet to discover the God given faith and vigour you are marvellously blessed with!

Stay beautiful as ever, within and out!

To you, the most beautiful woman of my life, dear Mother! You are the best!

The Assurance of Hope!

“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  (Bible: 1 Corinthians 15: 55-57)

After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words. (Bible: 1Thesolonians 4: 17 & 18)

Poems are sometimes the best way to express our inner sentiments, easiest to describe the ones we love most and remember.

Below are two poems written for my late dearest and youngest brother Koshuhrii Ali, who left us suddenly for his eternal home on the 4th of September 2009 while fulfilling the duty of a faithful friend- saving his friend from drowning. Another one written for my late older brother dearest Chovow Avow, who endured one of  life’s most painful infirmity with calmness and patience. The Lord saw him fight well least, He thought it best to let him rest after his prolonged battle with brain tumour. On the 13th of January 2013, the Lord took him to rest eternally. Both of them had a short stay with us but, lived a full life altogether. Both brought us all a lot of joy, love and happiness. Their brief stay with us had been all memorable and pricelessly cherished. Both were called by the Lord early. Sometimes, as I ponder poignantly upon their lives, the verses from the Bible mentioned above and one in  Isaiah 57: 1-2 which says, “the righteous perish, and no one ponders it in his heart; devout men are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. Those who walk uprigthly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie death, “ comforts me. Here’s sharing the peoms written in rememberance of my dearest brothers . Time and again, the human side of us miss them terribly but, the light of ‘hope’ gives us the strength to move on through each day, assuring us only to be united with them again when we also leave our temporary home here on earth.

BELOVED KOSHUHRII

You came last

You went first

About you, Father was never apprehensive

You were always dedicated

And Mother? You were her concern and joy

You were always involved and helpful

For your brothers, your presence was always a warmth and a strength

Your big sisters never grew tired of your expressive smiles,

You shared your hopes and dreams

We all participated

We were a family

You were a part

But you were destined to leave your beloveds early

O! How we all miss you Koshuhrii, Alee

Yet, we now live on

Gathering strength after strength

Cherishing in our hearts

Sharing among ourselves

Those beloved memories of you spent with us.

We all saw you come

We all saw you go

We Love you as always, God loves you more…

We now move on with the hope of meeting you in Heaven…

YOU DID IT! IT’S NOT GOODBYE YET ( For Brother Avow)

O Brother!

I often think that, life was hard on you

Dreams were only dreams for you

Time to time, with bitterness, I think, WHY?

The deep soulful melody of your voice we listened with pleasure were to be only for a while

The stirring harmony emancipated when your fingers ran through the six strings of a guitar, were to be heard only for a while

The immense knowledge you had and shared that impressed all especially Dad, were to be only for a while

The loving mate you had been for mom, often with amusing incidences, were to be enjoyed only for a while

The constant chum you had always been for us, your sisters, were to be only for a while

The soft and kind companionship you gave to our brothers were to be only for a while

Your gentle and cool attitude were to be experienced only for a while

But today, I sit here and thank God for the dear life

Short yet, leaving behind meaningful memories

You showed us how to take affliction with joy

Silently you suffered much

Bravely you fought through

However, God had a different plan

He felt it was time for you to rest because,

He saw you suffered a great deal

He saw you fought well

He saw you demonstrated to us how to live in the course of pain

With no complaints, no matter how excruciating it had been for you

The disease could not overpower your unfading smile

Your spirit unshaken till your last strength could hold

The care and concern you always put up with wouldn’t abate even in your last days

You did it Brother; you fought a good fight and left an irreplaceable memory

God’s purpose for you here on earth was fulfilled

Your dreams are not only dreams

You have left an undreamed dream accomplished

By the exemplary life you lived and left behind.

Now, my bitterness is replaced with good thoughts because you did it!

I’m moving on with a grateful heart for the God sent beautiful angel in disguise, you O! Brother

Take care of our small Brother Alee

You both deserve good rest and peace

And so, we are rest assured

We now await our meeting at our eternal home

It’s not goodbye yet!
